  • About the Production

    The town of Two Spruce is about to lose their beloved library. A team of volunteer actors come to its financial rescue by staging a murder mystery. But on opening night a real murder most foul threatens to thwart their theatrical aspirations. Lucy the Librarian and a team of quirky volunteer actors scramble to solve the crime before the curtain rises and the library is lost forever.

  • Roles Available

    Lucy Nickel:Our hero. Librarian and reluctant stage manager turned reluctant sleuth. Sometimes it seems like she’s the only sane one in the bunch.

    Hillary Shilling:hallenger. Reformer. The janitor of the library. She’s harsh and intimidating. Plays the role of Wendy Sheckle -The nerdish ingénue 

    Sarah Sovereign:The victim. Incredibly wealthy and sooo out of touch withordinary people. Plus she’s a terrible actor. Plays the role of Sally Guilder – former mean girl and also victim in the play within the play.

    Shelagh O’Coin: Aspiring playwright. Plays the role of Linda Pence, a drunk.

    Steve Quid: Gold digger. Vain. Charmer & flatterer. Plays the role of Walter Thruppence- The lawyer who becomes the sleuth of the play within the play.

    Danny Farthing: Cop. He is debilitatingly shy except when on the community theatre stage. He is the town’s best actor.Plays the role of Kirk Florin – a party animal

    Bill Quarter: Caregiver/peacemaker. Retired teacher. Plays the role of Rocky Bender- The hippie from a couple grades above Sally at school. He’s the psychic.

    Dorie Drachma: A bit of a villain. Chairman of the board of the library. Conservative. She’s the director of the play within the play, but has to step inand take the role of Sally.

  • About the Production:

    In what the men dismiss as trifles, the women find clues to the truth behind a grizzly murder. Inspired by a true-crime story and set against the backdrop of a lonely Iowa Farmhouse in the early 1900s, Trifles explores themes of justice, gender equality and abuse.

  • Roles Available

    Mrs. Hale: The wife of Lewis Hale and neighbor to the victim – and suspect. Observant, suspicious of men.

    Mrs. Peters: The Sheriff's wife, who is tasked with retrieving a few of Minnie’s belongings from the farmhouse. Conflicted.

    County Attorney (George Henderson) : Young, self-assured. 

    The Sheriff (Henry Peters) : The local lawman and husband of Mrs. Peters 

    Mr. Hale: The neighbouring farmer who discovered the murder.
