We have been a community run organization, with the intention of entertaining our local audiences since 1933!

The Cambridge Community Players (formally the Galt Little Theatre) was originally started by a principal of the Galt Collegiate Institute (GCI), Dr. T.H. Wholton. He, with some of his staff and students created a group called Galt Collegiate Players. From this theatre loving group of people came the Galt Little Theatre Company. They met at the YMCA in August 1933. The Galt Little Theatre put their first shows on at Tassie Hall. Due to their growing success, the company performed at other venues such as the Galt Public Library and in the Delta Playhouse. Not having a permanent home, they rehearsed, stored their sets, costumes and props in a variety of places. They used the old Post Office, Kirkham’s Appliance store, the old Gore Building on Main St., the Savage Shoe building in Preston and the Preston Hydro building, to name a few. In 1982 the City of Cambridge purchased and renovated Water St. Baptist Church and created the Cambridge Arts Theatre. The Galt Little Theatre was given a permanent residence there and that is where we reside to this day!

Our aim is to support the development of Cambridge’s amateur performing arts community. The work we do here at the Cambridge Community Players (CCP) connects and enriches the lives of both the volunteers and our audience. There are may ways to show your support for our mission, for more information please take a look at our volunteer and membership pages.

Adapted by Jane Kendall

“A lady's imagination is very rapid; it jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony, in a moment.”

Call it “mission impossible” for the nineteenth century! Mr. and Mrs. Bennet have five unmarried daughters, and the clock is ticking. When the wealthy bachelor Mr. Bingley arrives in town, Mrs. Bennet sees a perfect match for her beautiful daughter Jane. Mr. Bingley is not alone, however, and the combustible chemistry between the brooding stranger Mr. Darcy and the strong-willed Elizabeth Bennet will soon rock the family's very foundations and change all of their destinies.

Adapted from one of the most enduring bestsellers of all time, Pride and Prejudice sparkles with the mischievous wit and timeless characters that made Jane Austen the inventor of the modern romantic comedy. High-spirited and heartfelt, the Cambridge Community Players production will delight Austen aficionados and win new fans for this story of improbable love.

March 29, 30, April 5, 6, 7 (Matinee) 12, and 13 2019
